The Sui community is planning to recover the locked Cetus assets after the $223 million hack.
The Cetus DEX on the Sui network has just received 90% support in an on-chain vote to unlock the stolen tokens that were frozen after the hack worth 223 million USD on May 22. Of that, approximately 162 million USD in tokens have been frozen by the validators of the Sui network and are currently held in two wallets of the hacker.
According to the plan, the validators will transfer the frozen assets into a multi-signature wallet controlled by Cetus, OtterSec, and the Sui Foundation, through a network upgrade. Cetus will also implement a compensation contract and add an emergency recovery feature to the CLMM infrastructure.
The development team stated that the recovery process will be completed within a week, including data restoration, restarting the CLMM, and all functions that are currently suspended.
The hack targeted a vulnerability in the CLMM model of Cetus, causing damages of 223 million USD. The project has fixed the issue and offered a reward of 6 million USD to recover 20,920 ETH (56,3 million USD) that was transferred to Ethereum.
