Market Analysis: European bank asset quality remains strong but is likely to deteriorate
On April 9, CreditSights analysts said in a report that the asset quality of European banks remains strong as the global economic outlook begins to deteriorate. "[European] banks are entering this period of uncertainty from a dominant position in terms of asset quality." However, asset quality could deteriorate as U.S. tariffs could lead to a recession, hurting borrowers' ability to repay their debts, CreditSights said.
