Aptus Capital: Powell will reiterate that there is no rush to cut interest rates and emphasize the independence of the Federal Reserve (FED).
Jin10 data, May 7 - Aptus Capital Advisors analyst John Luke Tyner stated that he expects Federal Reserve Chairman Powell to maintain the previous tone and may emphasize that policymakers need to see more data and are not in a hurry to cut interest rates. Tyner noted that, given that inflation is still above target and the economy looks good, Powell will not be "overly proactive" regarding future interest rate cuts. Tyner is eager to hear comments on tariffs, especially the potential impact of tariffs on prices. He mentioned that after various statements made by the Trump administration recently, Powell may emphasize the independence of the Federal Reserve.
