ETH developers have launched a new Testnet Hoodi for the final testing of the Pectra upgrade
BlockBeats news, on March 14th, according to this Thursday's All Devs Call, developers from the Ethereum Foundation will launch a new test network called Hoodi, which will test the final deployment of Pectra before activation on the Mainnet. This new 'long-term' test network is expected to launch on March 17th. Previously, the activation of Pectra on the Holesky and Sepolia test networks encountered configuration issues, leading to a delay in the official release schedule. The Pectra upgrade aims to improve the availability and scalability of Ethereum by dropping data availability costs through increasing the number of 'blob' transactions on the layer 2 network, significantly increasing stake limits, and introducing account abstraction, greatly expanding the functionality of Smart Contracts and Wallets. Pectra is expected to be activated on the Ethereum Mainnet as early as April 25th, approximately 30 days after the deployment upgrade plan on the new Hoodi test network.
