SPK Vice President Ali İhsan Güngör made significant statements regarding Turkey's regulations on the cryptocurrency sector. Güngör noted that no new regulations have been made in areas such as technology, mining, wallets, and tokens but that platforms serving the public have been regulated.

Güngör shared important data about the current cryptocurrency situation in Turkey. He emphasized that thanks to the MKK integration, which will be completed by June, Turkey will have healthier data supported by figures such as the number of investors and total balances. He stated that this integration would eliminate the need for platforms like Coincompare and that Turkey would become one of the few countries in the world with significant data.

Turkey's cryptocurrency market: High number of traders, low custody balance

The Turkish people rank high in terms of active trading accounts, but their custody balances remain in the range of 5-8 billion dollars. In calculations made without including personal wallets, the total value held by the Turkish people in cryptocurrencies falls within this range. Although Turkey has a developed trader profile in terms of cryptocurrency ownership, the amounts of assets are at a more limited level.

Cryptocurrency trends are similar to Forex

Güngör stated that they see the trends in Turkey's cryptocurrency market as being closer to the forex market rather than the stock market. In the initial field audits, Güngör expressed that major tokens such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) have higher prices, but currently, there is a trend towards more active tokens. He also mentioned that there are currently no regulations regarding leveraged trading, but future developments could be significant.

Güngör stated that tokenization and securitization, especially (securitization), are very important areas, emphasizing that regulations in these fields will contribute to the economy. He mentioned that blockchain technology plays a significant role in the widespread adoption of these processes and that regulations in this area are inevitable in the future.
