US dismantles BidenCash black market, seizes 145 domain names and cryptocurrencies
On June 5, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia announced that it had coordinated with federal agencies to seize 145 domain names and an undisclosed amount of cryptocurrency related to the BidenCash darknet marketplace specializing in the sale of stolen personal data and credit cards.
The seized domains include biden[.]ws, biden[.]to, biden[.]hk, biden[.]CX, and many other domains, have now been redirected to law enforcement servers.
Launched in March 2022, BidenCash has attracted over 117,000 users and has transacted more than 15 million payment card numbers along with personal identification data (PII). The estimated total revenue is over 17 million USD. Notably, between mid-October 2022 and February 2023, BidenCash once leaked 3.3 million card data for free to promote the platform.
The crackdown operation was conducted with the participation of the U.S. Secret Service in Frankfurt, the Cyber Investigation Unit, and the FBI Albuquerque branch. This is part of a campaign to crack down on criminal networks using encryption on the dark web.
