Crypto analyst predicts U.S. money printing could send Bitcoin to $1 million
Crypto analyst predicts U.S. money printing could send Bitcoin to $1 million originally appeared on TheStreet.
A lot of crypto bulls, such as Michael Saylor and Cathie Wood, have predicted that Bitcoin will hit the price of $1 million.
While the U.S. government potentially creating a strategic Bitcoin reserve is definitely a positive factor, there is a rather ironic factor that could give the cryptocurrency a further push on the price chart.
Crypto entrepreneur and podcast host Anthony Pompliano wrote on X on Aug. 13 that the government itself will make sure that Bitcoin hits $1 million a day.
The only thing the government needs to do is never stop printing money, Pompliano added.
The crypto analyst's remark underlines the tension between the traditional economy and the Bitcoin economy. While the traditional economy entails the central bank printing money due to supposedly no limit on the total supply of the fiat currency, the Bitcoin economy caps its circulation at 21 million coins.
As excessive supply has the potential to lower the value of the currency, there is a valid concern within the U.S. that the dollar's value could lower due to the ongoing monetary policy.
As per the Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED), the U.S. dollar index — a metric of the value of the USD relative to other world currencies — has been declining since the beginning of 2025. However, the situation isn't as bad as it seems when we zoom out. The index has continually risen over the years, though the ebbs and flows have remained a part of its trajectory.
