U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis, known for her supportive approach towards Bitcoin, made important statements at the Bitcoin 2025 conference that opened its doors today.

Lummis announced that the bill named BITCOIN, which envisions the purchase of 1 million BTC by the U.S., will come to the Senate General Assembly next week. This indicates that the bill will enter the official process where it will be addressed, discussed, and voted on with the participation of all senators.

Lummis also stated that U.S. President Donald Trump supports this bill.

If accepted, 200 thousand BTC will be purchased every year.

The proposed bill envisions the establishment of a strategic Bitcoin reserve consisting of geographically distributed "Bitcoin vaults" across the country. Additionally, the bill includes a purchasing program under the supervision of the Treasury Department, which will acquire 200,000 BTC each year over a 5-year period, reaching a total of 1 million BTC. It is stated that purchases will be made transparently and strategically to avoid sudden fluctuations in the markets, and that the acquired assets will be held for at least 20 years.

On the other hand, Lummis stated that he believes the US currently owns approximately 200,000 BTC but is not entirely sure. The senator also mentioned that after the mandatory audit conducted by the White House, the government classified this information as "secret" and requested a private briefing on the matter.
